Come and See: The Beguiling Story of the Tyneside Cinema

Client: Tyneside Cinema

As part of their 75th anniversary celebrations, Tyneside Cinema commissioned Michael Chaplin, an acclaimed writer for stage, television and radio to write an official biography of the cinema. Working with the Cinema and Michael, Velcrobelly designed this 164 page, full colour book.

Come and See was expertly printed by Martins the Printers, an independent book printers operating from Berwick-upon-Tweed. 4,000 copies were printed as part of the first edition.

The author Michael Chaplin commented:
The book started as a little web project, but has grown and grown, and gradually turned into an illustrated 164-page book, beautifully designed by David McClure. The reason it took off is very simple – it’s a wonderful story, but not solely a history of a building or a cultural organisation.

The book is available to purchase from Tyneside Cinema (at a special price of £9.99), Amazon and all good book shops in the north east of England.
