Client: Sibley Brewing Company
The Town Mouse Ale House is a cosy, relaxed micropub in Newcastle upon Tyne which champions North East microbrewers and their unique craft beer creations.
Velcrobelly had a great experience working on this project with owner and publican Jon Sibley.
Jon was keen to avoid a twee figurehead as a solution and cited my Cuckoo series of illustrations as a suitably ‘eerie’ starting point.
This prompted a very playful period of experimentation; absorbing influences as diverse as Monty Python and British psych-horror films of the 1970s.
The final design subtly distills those influences into a bold graphic which pairs with a striking colour palette and a font which subtly hints at its horror roots.
Thank you! If I could give you a big sloppy kiss via the medium of email I would.
A limited edition fine-art print (pictured below) inspired by the original (earring-sporting) logo design is available to buy from our art shop.
