David McClure is a graphic designer and artist/illustrator who works from a studio at The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
Born in Northern Ireland, David moved to north east England to study graphic design at Northumbria University, where he graduated with First Class Honours in 2000.
In late 2001, he established Velcrobelly – a freelance graphic design studio which specialises in creative design and illustrative communication for cultural organisations and independent small business.
David works closely with his clients, discussing ideas and exploring unique solutions to their creative problems.
As an artist and illustrator David creates unique graphic images by combining digital tools and traditional drawing techniques.
His work is inspired by popular culture, media and postmodernism – in particular, reinterpretation of visuals from film, literature and musical subcultures.
His art is bold, colourful and humorous, with an emphasis on strong line and flowing composition.
David’s work is available to buy from our Art shop, with free UK delivery.
“Having this design work has been really important for TV YMCA. It has helped us raise our profile and share the scope and reach of what we do. The board are very happy with the quality of the publications and the scope of their potential use.
“In addition, the cost was excellent value for money. I recommend Velcrobelly as a provider of innovate and quality design work.”
